An escape from reality or a way of life?
I often hear that traveling is an escape from reality. But is that really the case? What is reality? What is the norm? There is no single idea or single recipe for life.
Some people like to settle down in one place, take root and enjoy the daily routine. Others, on the other hand, want to experience new places, cultures and people. What is normal for some may be normal for others.be a cage.
For many people, the norm is a two-day vacation a year, working eight hours a day, five days a week. It’s Saturdays and Sundays off, barbecues in the summer and Netflix or books in the winter. But is that the only way to live? Of course not!
People are divided into many different groups. For example, groups: settlers and explorers. Settlers value stability and a sense of security, while explorers crave adventure and unknown challenges. Both of these groups are equally important and necessary.
Traveling allows explorers to pursue their passion, develop and gain new experiences. It is not an escape, but a conscious choice to live a full life. If it were not for travelers/explorers, we would not have the faintest idea about the world. If it were not for their curiosity, questioning these so-called norms.
Man can be classified in many different ways depending on the context. In addition to settlers and explorers, we can distinguish, for example:
Creators and consumers – creators are people who create new things, ideas, art, technologies, and consumers are those who use the products of the creators.
Leaders and Followers – Leaders are people who inspire and guide others, while followers are those who follow them.
Extroverts and introverts – extroverts gain energy from social interactions, while introverts prefer spending time alone or in small groups.
Realists and dreamers – realists focus on reality and facts, dreamers on imagination and possibility.
Practitioners and theorists – practitioners focus on practical applications, theorists on abstract concepts and principles.
Optimists and pessimists – optimists see the future in bright colors, pessimists in darker ones.
These categories can, of course, overlap, and one person may exhibit characteristics of different types depending on the situation.
If we can be so different, why is there so much criticism and judgment for people who don’t want to sit on their asses for long. They want to travel and discover – in their own individual way.
Which group do you identify with?
